In our busy world, finding inner calm can often feel like chasing a dream. We deal with constant noise—from blaring notifications to the bustle of daily life—that pulls our focus in many directions. Yet, within this chaos lies the potential for profound clarity. This blog explores the importance of embracing silence and how a mindful breath can transform your day.
Be Still and Know...
Last week, I found myself rushing around, doing everything I thought I needed to accomplish, quickly, fast, and in a hurry. Then I heard a still, small voice say, "Take a moment to breathe!" It was Holy Spirit reminding me to slow down and take a deep breath. To inhale the breath of life God has given and take notice of the day, then breathe out and exhale anything that doesn't belong. He reminded me that whatever I leave undone, someone else will be ready to step in and complete it, so take a moment to breathe.
Have you ever noticed how refreshing a moment to breathe can be? God has given us his rule to sustain us throughout every day. Take a moment to breathe and think about the goodness of God. It is a time when pausing, resting, and just being still can cause us to reap great rewards that often affect us spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Stillness is a sacred breath in the middle of life’s chaos. These are often moments where God meets us most intimately.
With the hustle and bustle of the world around us and the anxiety of a busy schedule for many of us, I think sometimes we forget to take a moment and breathe. There are so many distractions in our environment today that it can be difficult to intentionally take time for yourself. We must remember to take in the beauty of God’s creation that surrounds us. We must take a moment and inhale the essence of His presence. God gives us breath that renews. Job 33:4 says, “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Pausing to take a moment to breathe reminds us that we are indeed alive and the miracle that God has made us.
Don’t forget to take a moment and exhale pure love for your fellow man. So let me encourage you to take a moment and breathe. You never know when the last time it will be that you get to freely inhale, nor when the moment comes for you to take your final exhale. So don’t miss the moment of loving your neighbor as yourself. Don’t miss the moment of loving God first, don’t miss the moment to hug your children, and don’t miss the moment to tell your husband or your wife, I love you. That is the very reason you need to purposefully take this moment to breathe.
Breathing itself is a divine gift. It is a moment-to-moment reminder of God’s sustaining power. Each inhale can be a prayer; each exhale, a powerful release. So take this moment for a Sacred Pause, breathe deeply to center yourself in God’s presence through prayer. Inhale: Lord, You are near. Exhale: I surrender this moment to you. Meditate on the scriptures and rest in them for several quiet minutes. Even Jesus, the Savior of the world needed time to retreat, rest, breathe, and commune with the Father. His life teaches us the rhythm of rest and renewal. Luke 5:16 (NIV) But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”
Cultivating Gratitude Amidst Chaos

Linking your moments of stillness to gratitude can deepen the clarity you seek. Think about aspects of your life that you appreciate, no matter how small.
Practicing gratitude opens the door to positivity, helping to shift your focus away from chaos. Over time, this mindset can significantly change how you approach challenges, reminding you to pause and enjoy the beauty present in life’s whirlwind.
In a world that demands constant motion, God invites us into holy pauses. Moments to breathe are not signs of weakness, they’re sacred spaces of strength, surrender, and spiritual clarity. Step outside go for a walk and let creation invite you into God’s rhythm. Practice intentionally taking those moments of silence take a moment to breathe and invite God to speak to your heart.
